I love taking pictures of sunsets and sunrises and colorful skies and colorful scenes, but the beauty of a photograph isn't always in the color of it, but in the content of it. That's why I posted this photo. This is a site dedicated to showcasing the state of Mississippi in many different ways. This is the town of Amory, a fairly typical Mississippi small town, with cracked pavement, lined with locally owned businesses that represent the heart of America. There isn't anything glamorous or awe-striking in this photo, but for me this represents what I knew as a born & bred Mississippian. Maybe there are a bunch of metaphors that go along with a road that is no longer perfectly paved, but instead scarred with the years of use, so I will let you find those that are there for yourself, while you, maybe a fellow Mississippian or a fellow small towner, reminisce about your own upbringing in that setting. No, I didn't grow up in Amory, but in West Point, about 40 miles away, but this is all Mississippi small towns to me, in all it's cracked pavement glory and I wouldn't have it any other way.
