Lake Lillies

Lake Lillies

When I shoot in the afternoons, I always want there to be clouds in the sky, because it always adds an interesting alement to a landscape. Unfortunately I can't control that and I like to take photos quite often. So it's nice to find landscapes that aren't too flat or too pristine, though there is a time and place for that. I liked this photo because the water was full of lillies and different types of growth that added a texture to the water to contrast with a very flat sky. Had the water been pristine it might not have worked so well, but the texture of the water is nice to look at I pointed the camera down to lead you from the lillies in the foreground to the sky in the background. At least that was my intention.

I took this photo just after sunrise at the Noxubee Wildlife Refuge. I go out there a good bit to photograph the area.

Here is a shot from the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge near Starkville. I love the strong bokeh in this photo as you leads you to the center, giving some great depth of field.
