Reclining Bear

Reclining Bear

As I was riding backroads from New Albany to Holly Springs on Thanksgiving morning I ran across the most unusual scene. Just past the Myrtle city limits as I'm minding my own business headed toward the next town, out of the corner of my eye I spotted what's in the above photo. Yes, a stuffed bear (and tiger) in an old recliner, in the middle of an open field. As you can imagine, I basically slammed on my breaks, turned around, and found a place to park. I got out and walked out into the field about 30 yards to get this shot. It was a little bit surreal to come across something like this in the middle of almost nowhere, and honestly, also a bit creepy, but this is the stuff that I absolutely love to find. You don't typically find things like this while sticking to the main roads. These gems are found off the beaten path and the fact that they can't be explained (unless someone can give me info) is part of what I love about it. It's so silly to think someone would do this until you actually run across it. Mississippi is such a mysterious place and I have a feeling, more mysteries lie ahead.

I explored Myrtle a little bit and came across this old abandoned house on a tiny little road just off of what would be considered the "downtown" area.
