My grandmother lived in Meridian for a little while when I was a young kid so I spent a decent amount of time there, and though I don't remember a whole lot (I was really young), I do remember this building the few times we would get out and go downtown. Being a kid from West Point, where there is a limited number of tall buildings (think 3 stories), I thought it was reeeeeally cool to see what I thought was a "skyscraper". Did I mention I was REALLY young? Anyways, a few weeks ago, while spending a little time in downtown Meridian I made sure to get some shots of the Threefoot building. I remember, as a kid, that the building looked pretty worn down, and after doing a quick google search found that it had been mostly abandoned by the 1990's and, sadly, is currently abandoned with a group hoping to eventually renovate it, though some attempts at renovation in the recent past were unsuccessful.
It was completed in 1929 and was named after the family who built it, the Threefoot's. Read more about it here.
