Graveside Flowers

Mon Apr 13, 2015

A couple of weeks ago I posted a photo from Memorial Gardens Park Cemetery in Starkville. Every grave that I saw had a pot of flowers on top of it and I thought that was really nice to see, and also that the place is so well kept up. I was playing with bokehs, wanting to experiment with a heavy bokeh in an HDR photograph, which is something not typically seen in HDR photography. I have had some unsuccessful attempts at this in the past but wanted to try again, and suprisingly this one was easy to create and turned out great. The colors in the flowers were outstanding and the detail is really nice. I feel like I could feel the texture of the flower if I touched the photo. I think I will continue to play with bokehs in HDR and see what else I can create.

Memorial Gardens Park

Cemeteries can be a great place for photos, especially ones that have statues or large tombstones. I was directed to this cemetery by a friend who thought it would make for some good shots, so I ventured out during my lunchbreak last week and made sure to stop by this cemetery and I was very pleased with the shots I got. This one of them, and I will post more in the near future. This cemetery is located on Oktoc Road just outside of Starkville going towards the Noxubee Refuge. It is very well kept up and it looked like every grave had a pot of flowers on it, which I thought was nice. The clouds were great on this day with sun rays peaking through, which added some drama to this shot of Jesus (with no hands) holding his arms out.
