Morning Post

Thu Oct 20, 2016

Here is another photo from my sunrise photo shoot this past Saturday. It was a beautiful one for sure. This is out on Highway 50 E next to the Windmill, which I will post a photo of in the near future (One of many windmill photos). The colors were fantastic on this day.

Empty Gym

Wed Oct 19, 2016

This is the empty gym at the now abandoned West Clay High School. Here are some more photos that I've posted in the past. Obviously, the school is now super creepy, having been abandoned for about 20 years, but I love the mysteriousness of it and for some reason I doesn't scare me at all to walk into these places and shoot photos. I see it as more of an adventure and something new to discover.

Sunrise Ridin'

Mon Oct 17, 2016

I got up, kind of at the last minute, on Saturday morning to try to catch the sunrise, so I hopped in the Jeep and chased after it. I'm glad that I did, because it was a great sunrise, which has been few and far between lately. I actually arrived at this spot, just as the sun was peaking over the tree line.

Highway Tree

Tue Oct 11, 2016

I posted a photo of this tree a few days ago. I actually took a lot of photos of this tree that day and have taken lots of photos of this tree in the past. It's an awesome tree and one that always makes for a good photo. When you have an awesome sunset behind it, then it only adds to the greatness and on that day the sunset was spectacular! If you are a photographer and you happen to be on Highway 50 between West Point and Columbus then you should definitely get some shots of this tree.

On the Road Again

Fri Oct 7, 2016

This was a gorgeous sunset that I was able to capture this past weekend. Lately the sky has been so crystal clear that it's been hard to get a good sunst or sunrise. Clouds really do make all the difference in landscape photos. They help to reflect the sun's light and create all kinds of magnificent colors. Even in the middle of the afternoon you need clouds to create more interesting elements in a shot. Here's hoping for more sunset/sunrise clouds in the near future.

House By the Water

Thu Oct 6, 2016

Here is a beautiful sunset that I was able to capture the other evening. This is right off of the Tombigbee River in Clay County right off of Hwy. 50. There is a nice neighborhood that surrounds the channels that come off of the river. The water was nice and calm, creating a great reflection.

A Night in the Park

Wed Oct 5, 2016

I ride or walk by this spot quite often as it is very close to my house and I recently noticed this particular scene with the City Hall clock showing in the background over the park, so I decided that this would be a good photo so the next chance I got I walked over to it and set up for this shot. It turned out so peaceful and soothing (at least to me) and really showcases the feeling you get walking in or near this park at night or just after sunset. The bonus was that I caught the rays from the setting sun bursting over the horizon, adding a pink hue to the dark blue sky. The star bursts also turned out very clean with my aperture all the way down to f22.

Blazing Sky

Mon Oct 3, 2016

I went out to shoot the sunset last night because I have been slacking lately on my photo taking and when you vow to post a photo every single day you cannot be a slacker. Besides, I don't want to just post a photo, I want to post good photos. Anyway, the sunset was more than I could've asked for. I went to the Tombigbee River on Hwy 50 first to try to get some photos of the channels that run off from the river in that area. I also planned to stop at this tree, which is my favorite tree ever, and get some photos of it since I haven't photographed it in a while. I knew as soon as I snapped the first 3 photos that it was going to be hard to mess this one up. I ended taking multiple angled shots in landscape and portrait just to see which photo would be the best, though I knew none of them would be bad. This is my favorite one of those, but I will be sure to post more of them in the coming days. The colors were great. The grass is starting to transition into fall colors, but not quite there yet, so you get some greens, yellows and oranges against that pastel sky that is full of color. It was perfect timing.

Morning on the River

This is a shot from the banks of the Tombigbee River just before sunrise. This is looking toward the channel that run right next to the River Walk in Columbus, however this photo was taken from the Clay County side.
