Here is another photo from my sunrise photo shoot this past Saturday. It was a beautiful one for sure. This is out on Highway 50 E next to the Windmill, which I will post a photo of in the near future (One of many windmill photos). The colors were fantastic on this day.
This is the empty gym at the now abandoned West Clay High School. Here are some more photos that I've posted in the past. Obviously, the school is now super creepy, having been abandoned for about 20 years, but I love the mysteriousness of it and for some reason I doesn't scare me at all to walk into these places and shoot photos. I see it as more of an adventure and something new to discover.
I got up, kind of at the last minute, on Saturday morning to try to catch the sunrise, so I hopped in the Jeep and chased after it. I'm glad that I did, because it was a great sunrise, which has been few and far between lately. I actually arrived at this spot, just as the sun was peaking over the tree line.
I posted a photo of this tree a few days ago. I actually took a lot of photos of this tree that day and have taken lots of photos of this tree in the past. It's an awesome tree and one that always makes for a good photo. When you have an awesome sunset behind it, then it only adds to the greatness and on that day the sunset was spectacular! If you are a photographer and you happen to be on Highway 50 between West Point and Columbus then you should definitely get some shots of this tree.
This was a gorgeous sunset that I was able to capture this past weekend. Lately the sky has been so crystal clear that it's been hard to get a good sunst or sunrise. Clouds really do make all the difference in landscape photos. They help to reflect the sun's light and create all kinds of magnificent colors. Even in the middle of the afternoon you need clouds to create more interesting elements in a shot. Here's hoping for more sunset/sunrise clouds in the near future.
Here is a beautiful sunset that I was able to capture the other evening. This is right off of the Tombigbee River in Clay County right off of Hwy. 50. There is a nice neighborhood that surrounds the channels that come off of the river. The water was nice and calm, creating a great reflection.
I ride or walk by this spot quite often as it is very close to my house and I recently noticed this particular scene with the City Hall clock showing in the background over the park, so I decided that this would be a good photo so the next chance I got I walked over to it and set up for this shot. It turned out so peaceful and soothing (at least to me) and really showcases the feeling you get walking in or near this park at night or just after sunset. The bonus was that I caught the rays from the setting sun bursting over the horizon, adding a pink hue to the dark blue sky. The star bursts also turned out very clean with my aperture all the way down to f22.
