Mausoleum - Columbus

Wed Sep 9, 2015

I think this is a really cool mausoleum at friendship cemetery and everytime I go out there I take photos of it. I think I actually posted a photo of it in the snow a while back, so go check that out. I thought the black and white was fitting for a cemtery shot.

Sunset on the Tombigbee - Columbus

Tue Aug 11, 2015

I got the fun opportunity to get out on the river last Thursday with some friends (It's good to have friends with a boat). I tried my hand at water skiing, but wasn't very successful. I think I was much more successful at capturing the sunset, but I had lots of fun.

Tiny River Channel - Columbus

Thu Aug 6, 2015

Sometimes I like to play around with tilt-shift photography. Basically, tilt-shift is a method of using a blur at the top and bottom or right and left of the focal point of the image, while leaving the focal point in focus to create a miniature look. It's a fun technique to use and you can get some fun results from it. This is from the river walk bridge in Columbus that crosses over a channel that runs around an island near downtown.

A Farm and a Rainbow - Lowndes County

Sun Jul 26, 2015

I try my best to carry my camera around with me everywhere I go and it's in moments like these that I am grateful that I do so. I took this shot on my way home from work last week. I could see the rainbow becoming more visible as I drove down the highway so I took an exit nearby and stopped at this farm to capture the photo and I am really glad I did.

Snow Runner - Columbus

Wed Jul 1, 2015

Although the heat outside has subsided a little the last few days, it's still pretty humid, per the usual. Don't worry though, because here is a snow photo that will cool you off. If you look at it long enough and concentrate really hard on it you will automatically feel cooler. It was surprising to see that people were out running in the snow. I run some but I've never had the itch to run in the snow, but more power to those that do. Hopefully the lady in the photo didn't up like this snow running couple.

Sanctuary - Columbus

Sun Jun 28, 2015

Since it's Sunday I thought I would post a photo that I took a while back of the Sanctuary where I worship every Sunday. I had been looking forward to taking this photo for a while when I finally took the chance to do it before worship service one Sunday. I've always loved the tall stained glass in the back and the sun always shines directly through it. Unfortunately the original photo just didn't do justice to how the sun actually burst through it so I used an old photoshop tool and added the lens flare. That may be the first time I've used a Photshop lens flare since I first discovered it in college, but on this ocassion I thought it a more accurate representation of how the sun shines through the window and, after all, I want you to see what I saw.

Bridge at Plymouth Bluff

Fri Jun 26, 2015

Plymouth Bluff near Columbus is a great place to check out if you're ever in the area. They have a nice hiking trail that partly runs beside the Tombigbee River and near the beginning of the trail is this bridge and lake. I was there on this morning because it was really foggy and I knew it was a good chance to get some photos so ventured out here. I really liked the spider web on the bridge and the texture of the wood and really tried to bring those things out in the photo.
