Backroad Bridge

Thu Nov 10, 2016

I had to go to Columbus last night to shoot a video, so as I was travelling down 82 I noticed the gorgeous sunset happening so I got off the highway to find a good spot to capture. This bridge is a place that I have stopped to photograph on a few times, but I always shoot there because this bridge goes over Hwy 82 and I like to try and capture light trails of the heavy traffic below. Before I did that this time I decided to photograph the bridge because the scene captured me and there was a great purple glow going on with the sun below the horizon and casting all kinds of pastel colors off of the clouds. I did end up capturing some nice light trail photos, but as I was editing all of my photos this one really stood out so I wanted to post this one first. Hope you enjoy!

Purple Sunset

Mon Nov 7, 2016

Here is a photo that I took at Columbus Lake near the Columbus Lock & Dam. I love to go there and shoot, especially at sunset. The colors were so vibrant on this day and the water created some beautiful reflections.

McGuire

Sun Nov 6, 2016

This is a photo from a couple of years ago at an air show at the Columbus Air Force Base. I had only recently gotten into photography so I was taking tons of photos of all of the cool planes that they had on display there.

Autumn Path

Fri Nov 4, 2016

This location is the Riverwalk in Columbus. This is a place I frequented to photograph or run or bike. During the fall as the leaves are changing and falling and the weather is still not too cold, it's a great place go for a walk/run and enjoy nature.

Cart Path

Tue Nov 1, 2016

I've been diggin back through some older photos and re-editing some of them that I might've missed or that I didn't really like at the time. This is photo is from Elm Lake when the clouds were amazing and really creating movement in the shots. The clouds and the golf cart path sort of create a push pull as the cart moves into the distance and the clouds, seemingly, are rushing forward. The contrasting colors of the sky and ground also work well.

A Lamp & A Tree

Mon Oct 31, 2016

This is one of the very first photos I took when I started doing HDR photography, but now after over 2 years of letting it sit, I finally went back to it and was able to get a great edit out of it, now that I actually somewhat know what I'm doing. The experienced I've gained from editing a thousand or more photos is that I can look at many of my photos now and see in my head immediately what it should look like after I edit it and then the fun begins on creating it. I love the process of editing as much as I do the process of setting up the shot.

Road to Narnia

Sat Oct 29, 2016

Ok, so this really isn't Narnia, if you haven't already guessed. It is a pretty magical scene though, and one that isn't seen often in Mississippi. Fortunately we got to witness a great snow last year that created great photo opps. In fact I probably stayed out in it a little too long, before it got a little tricky to drive back home in. In fact, we couldn't even get our car all the way back up our driveway because the tires couldn't grip well enough under the snow. Here's hoping for more snowfall this winter... at least for a day or two.

Marina Rain

Thu Sep 29, 2016

I took this photo the same day as yesterday's photo, but I took this before the rain stopped (obviously) and created that awesome sunset. It's been pretty dry around here lately, so it would actually be nice if we got a little more rain. This was taken at the Columbus Marina under the cover of one of the boat docks from where we launched out on our cruise of the Tombigbee and my lame attempt at skiing.

River Ripples

Wed Sep 28, 2016

This is a shot from the middle of the Tombigbee River while riding on a boat with some friends. This was one of those "after the rain" sunsets which are always so beautiful since the clouds bounce all that sun light as the sun sits low in the sky. Being near water and capturing the reflections of that sunset is an added bonus. This was just up river from the Columbus Lock & Dam.

Hay Wagon

Mon Sep 26, 2016

My wife and I went with friends to "Country Pumpkins" in Caledonia so that she could get some fall decor for our house, while me and my friend played cornhole and I took some photos while I was there. The sky was a brilliant blue with some nice puffy clouds and kids playing around. Great recipe for a photo. These kids were on the wagon being pulled by a horse made of hay.
