Red Train

Tue May 23, 2017

This shot is from downtown Winona, where they have a couple of old trains on display next to the old train depot. I really love how the textures pop in this photo, even on the grass. It's one of those photos that makes you feel like you could touch it and feel the textures of the train and the grass. The way I edited it with low vibrance in most of the colors allows that red to really pop out.

Bobcat

Sat Apr 1, 2017

I saw this little bobcat in downtown Winona on my visit there. Objects like this always make for good HDR shots because of their texture, sharp edges and hard lines that really get brought out in post-processing. I like the gritty look and decided that it would fit well as a black and white photo. This isn't my typical landscape shot or downtown shot, but I like it still and think it really fits into Mississippi and represents hard work and toughness that is represantative of many many Mississippians.

The Winona Tracks

Sat Sep 10, 2016

Two days in a row of train track photos! Aren't you so excited. This photo is qute a contrast from yesterday's. This one is much gloomier, but I like the contrasting feels between the two. I think this one might evoke a little more emotion than yesterday's.

Vintage Motel

Wed Aug 31, 2016

I really loved this old Motel Sign in Winona. Vintage signs really catch my attention and I love to see them still being used. Often times you will see them left over from an abandoned business, such as the old Sun-n-Sand in downtown Jackson. I tried to capture the vintageness of the sign with the way I edited this photo. Enjoy!

Red Train

Fri Feb 5, 2016

I traveled to downtown Winona one morning on a photo shoot there and it was my first time to visit their downtown and I loved the trains that sit on the old tracks next to the old depot there taking us back to yesteryear and wondering what it was like when it was actually in use. I love to see old buildings and trains still standing, in fact, the house my wife and I recently bought is 100 years old with plaster walls and original hardwood still in the house. Vintage is cool!

Coca Cola Alley - Winona

Thu Jan 7, 2016

Took this photo while exploring downtown Winona. I love it when I actually have the time to go to a town and just spend some time walking around and finding all the interesting places, especially the ones not often seen, like this little alley way with the vintage Coca Cola ad on the exposed brick. Lots of nice textures and colors here with the dramatic clouds. I was dissapointed on this morning because it was so cloudy and I love some nice sunrises, but the clouds can create some good drama in a photo.

First Pres - Winona

Sun Dec 6, 2015

I thought this was beautiful church, and what made it even better was the very pretty flowers in the bush next to it, which I think really came out nice in this photo. There is also a nice dome on top of the church that you can barely see here. I tried to get a good photo of the dome, but there was no angle I could get to to be able to get it in the photo properly.

End of the Train - Winona

Tue Nov 24, 2015

I posted this photo back in August, but it was in black & white. After going back and experimenting with a color version, I really liked how it turned out, so I figured I would just post it again. I love how HDR photography really brings out the textures in things, almost making it come off of the photo. It's as if you could touch the screen and feel the texture... but I'm sorry you can't.

Black & White Corner

Wed Oct 7, 2015

There is just something so captivating about black & white photography. I've actually contemplated a new project based on black & white photography. It always seems more mysterious and dramatic when you take color away, and I think part of that is that your imagination runs wild a little more imagining what colors were actually there, almost coloring it yourself in your mind.
