I took several pictures of this abandoned gas station right outside of batesville. I though the black and white gave it a more mysterious and haunting look. Black and white definitely can add a totally new dynamic to a photo.
On my last trip to the delta this was the final photo I took that day as I was riding back through Batesville. This abandoned store is located just on the outskirts of town near North Delta Academy. Part of the sign was missing so it just said RY STORE, thus giving me a good blog post title.
Again, here is an abandone building with so many interesting features, from the peeling paint to the old chair sitting outside the door. Great splashes of bright colors against the dark colors of the building behind it. How long has it been this way? I find myself asking that whenever I see a place like this. I love showing the beauty of Mississippi landscapes and architecture, but I also love showing places like this that give a glimpse into yesteryear and make those of us who arent' old enough to remember, wonder what life was like then.
