Red Box

Sun Feb 26, 2017

There are many times when I want to get out and take photos but I have been everywhere I can think of in my immediate area, so it can be hard to find motivation to actually get out. However, sometimes I go back to the same places and because of time of day or weather conditions the shot completely changes or I find a different angle and I end up being happy with the photos that I took.

This is a farm just outside of town in West Point and I have probably done 3 different shoots in this location, each at different times of the year and different times of the day and the mood of each photoshoot is very different. It goes to show that when you lack motivation because you think there is nothing left to shoot, go shoot anyway and make subtle changes to make a completely different and unique photo.

Happy Sunday!

Henry Clay

Fri Feb 24, 2017

This is the Henry Clay Hotel in West Point, one of the historic landmarks of the town. Now it is a retirement community, restaraunt and houses Rose Drugs Pharmacy. I thought this shot just needed to be in black & white to really capture the historicity of the place and of downtown West Point in general.

Exploding Sky

Mon Feb 20, 2017

Shooting sunsets is a lot of fun and often give you great photos, but they can be extremely frustrating, because I might plan to shoot a sunset and then come to find an extremely boring and cloudless sky. However, sometimes the clouds are there bouncing light in every color, creating this great scene. That's what happened in this photo. I never went out intending to shoot a water tower as my subject, but since I was there and the sky was so great, I figured it didn't matter what was in the foreground, because the sky was the main subject.

Leaning Tree

Sun Feb 19, 2017

If you've followd my photography long enough you will have seen other photos that I have posted of this tree that sits on Highway 50 between West Point and Columbus. It's a tree that I have photographed many a time and will likely continue to do so as it is often a nice subject, especially at sunset, but as you can see, it is a good subject in the middle of the afternoon as well.

The Cabin

Thu Jan 19, 2017

Here is another old photo that I re-edited. I finished this photo off with a Nik Collection plugin from google that helped brighten up the right side of the photo where the sun is coming in at sunset. I actually cropped this photo so that the sun would not be in it, because it was pretty blown out. Plus, I like how you can see the rays coming in from the side letting you know that sun is just off screen. Less is more sometimes.

Sunset Rainbow

Tue Jan 3, 2017

Today I had to finally go back to work after two weeks off for the holidays. It's really hard to get back to the grind when you've been off for that long, but life must go on. Anyway, yesterday evening my wife pointed out that the sunset had an eerie glow so I quickly grabbed my camera and ran outside to capture it. Little did I know that in the other direction there was a rainbow waiting on me. Actually, two rainbow, if you look closely. What a great site to see and I didn't have to go far at all to capture it.

Elves in a Chair

I went exploring in downtown West Point to take some photos of the decorations downtown and I really liked the display window at The Bink Salon. I've been searching out some interesting Christmas decorations to show on my blog and think this was a perfect fit.

Our Tree

Mon Dec 19, 2016

This is our Christmas Tree. We moved into our new house last December and the first room we painted was our living room which you see in the photo. My wife chose a dark teal color for the room which I wasn't sure about at first when she mentioned it, but it turned out great and the best part about it is that it compliments are Christmas decorations very well. We love Christmast and decorating for it so it's a nice extra to have the perfect wall color for it. Merry Christmas!
