Church at Night

Thu Apr 21, 2016

Here is a shot from my little photo walk in downtown West Point the other night. The great thing about where I live is that when I want to shoot, I can just walk one block over and I'm in a beautiful downtown area with endless photography possibilities. This was just after sunset, looking east and, as you can see at the bottom of the photo, I caught a car passing in front as I took the shot, which I think was a 30 second exposure.

Down the Hill

Mon Apr 18, 2016

I went downtown in West Point and took a ton of photos at sunset. I was feeling super creative so I was shooting every kind of shot I could think with my 19mm wide angle lens and my 50mm lens that I use mostly for portraits. I am anxious to process all of them and post them soon. Here is some light trails that I captured with some light from the sun still shining over the horizon.

Purple Sky

Sun Apr 17, 2016

Here is a photo I took from Waverly Waters near West Point that has this beautiful lake against an even more beautiful sunset. Sunsets happen everyday, but they don't look like this everyday. I was glad to be able to capture it and just the right place. Hoping for more of these soon!

Small Town Light Trails

Fri Apr 15, 2016

Here are some light trails in front of a local pool hall/bar/restaraun call Soprano's that is just a few block from my home. I went on a little downtown photo walk on this night, just shooting everything I saw and decided to play with light trails with what little traffic there was. The good thing about light trails is that you really only need 1 car, though I think there were 2 or 3 moving in this shot. I thought it would look cool also with the Soprano's sign lit up against the brick wall in the background.

Dot's

Thu Mar 17, 2016

This is Dot's BBQ in West Point. This restaraunt is literally one block from my house and I have walked there on a couple of occassions to eat some delicious food. I'm sure they are not thrilled that their sign is broken but I thought it made the photo a little more interesting. The sky was really clear so the stars really showed up in this one (as far as being in a well lit town is concerned). If you are every in West Point, be sure to stop by Dot's for some great BBQ, and a really good hamburger!

The Ritz

Wed Mar 16, 2016

Here is a brand new shot of The Ritz Restaraunt and event center. I've poste a photo of it once or twice before (just click on the tags to see them) but this one is with my new camera and with some flares added to the light bulbs by closing the aperture all the way down to f22. I love how the bulbs on the sign look at this aperture, giving it a glitzy look.

Backyard Cabin

Fri Mar 11, 2016

This is a cabin in someone's backyard, and it's pretty awesome. Actually their backyard, in general, is pretty awesome. To the left ot this cabin is a nice fishing pond as well and the cabin even hangs out over the pond just a bit.

The Shed

Sat Feb 27, 2016

This is a cool shed/barn in the backyard of some family friends' house. The lighting was so great in this photo and it turned out super sharp with vibrant color, just as it looked when I was standing in front of it.

Monochrome Barn

Tue Feb 23, 2016

I love this barn near West Point. I have photographed it a couple of times in different conditions. This one was at sunset, but I liked the look of the black & white and the reflection from the water in the ditch in front of it.
